Once a wave is full you will no longer be able to enter that allotted time. When entering as a team, 4 spaces will be allocated when you select your wave start time. Walker wave times- 7:15am – 10:45am (in 15 minute intervals) – spaces limited so get in early! Climber wave times – 7:15am – 12:00pm (in 15 minute intervals) Full wave start details are in the “Get Involved” section on the website.
A wave start is effectively a start time for an entrant (individual or team). As there is limited space in the stairwells we need to allow participants to enter the stairwell at scheduled intervals to ensure the stairs do not get overcrowded.
When entering as a team, 4 spaces will automatically be allocated when you select your wave start time.
The tower is 300m vertical, and one of the tallest residential buildings in the world. You will climb 88 levels.
Stair climbing times depend largely on your fitness, average times for climbing the stairs are below:
• High fitness levels (10-15mins)
• Average fitness levels (15–30mins)
• Below average fitness levels (30mins+)
It is between 18-22 steps per floor followed by a landing then 180 degrees. You’ll be ascending clockwise and there is a railing for assistance. Some of our faster climbers have said that the railing comes into play at about the 50th floor to assist in pulling yourself upwards.
Prizes and awards will be presented on event day. There will be plenty of activities to be involved in at the bottom of the Eureka Tower. You will also have access to Eureka Skydeck 88 at the completion of your walk/climb. When you are ready to depart Eureka Skydeck 88 you simply take the elevators down to ground level.
There will not be any allocated change rooms so we suggest you wear your race attire to the event. The stairwells can get stuffy so we advise that you wear something cool and comfortable. Appropriate running footwear is advised.
