Quick Facts

Q: How can I ensure all my team members are selected into the same wave time?

When entering as a team, 4 spaces will automatically be allocated when you select your wave start time.

Q: When do online entries open for Eureka Climb?

Online entries will open late July/early August. We will communicate the entry open dates via our e-newsletter (you can sign up on the home page) or our Facebook page

Q: How do I get to the Eureka Tower?

Car Parking Car parking is limited close to Eureka Tower. Wilson car parking is available near the venue. Alternatively Crown Casino parking is nearby or street parking on City Road or St Kilda Road. Public Transport The closest train station is Flinders Street or trams run along St Kilda Road . Allow 5 minutes to walk from the station to Eureka Tower across the Yarra foot bridge, or from the tram stop to Eureka Tower along South bank. Remember to check train/tram times as it is a Sunday morning.

Q: How high is the tower?

The tower is 300m vertical, and one of the tallest residential buildings in the world. You will climb 88 levels, 1642 Steps.

Q: How long will it take?

Stair climbing times depend largely on your fitness, average times for climbing the stairs are below:

  • High fitness levels (10-15mins)
  • Average fitness levels (15-30mins)
  • Below average fitness levels (30mins+)

Q: If we are in a team, do we have to stay together throughout the climb?

No, you will all start together although you may all finish at different times. If you have entered into the climbing category your team time will be an aggregate of all four team members.

Q: Do we have to walk back down the stairs?

No, at the completion of your race you will be taken down to the ground floor via elevator. (the fastest in the southern hemisphere).

Q: What is the general layout of the stairs?

It is between 18-22 steps per floor followed by a landing then 180 degrees. You'll be ascending clockwise and there is a railing for assistance. Some of our faster climbers have said that the railing comes into play at about the 50th floor to assist in pulling yourself upwards.

Q: What happens once I've completed my walk/climb?

Prizes and awards will be presented on event day. There will be plenty of activities to be involved in at the bottom of the Eureka Tower in hte concourse area. You will also have access to Eureka Skydeck 88 at the completion of your walk/climb. When you are ready to depart Eureka Skydeck 88 you simply take the elevators down to ground level.

Q: What do I wear to the event?

There will not be any allocated change rooms so we suggest you wear your race attire to the event. The stairwells can get stuffy so we advise that you wear something cool and comfortable. Appropriate running footwear is advised.

Q: Can you recommend a place for me to stay in Melbourne?

We are pleased to have Travelodge Southbank as our Official Accommodation Partner.
Ideally positioned right next door to Eureka Tower, Travelodge Southbank allows easy access to the venue on event morning, especially if you have an early wave time! Participants will be privy to a special rate.  Read more under "Accommodation" here
